Celebrating Valentine's Day in a Pandemic

The day of love is coming up in two weeks and many are left trying to figure out what to do. With this pandemic, lots of businesses are still closed, social distancing is still in order, and curfews are a thing. In this article, I’ll be sharing with you seven short date ideas that will help you and your loved one stay safe from this pandemic. They’re simple, inexpensive, and awesome ways to connect with your partner (in more ways than one).

1. Netflix and chill

An oldie, but a goldie. You can never go wrong with cuddling up in bed with popcorn, hot chocolate, and a good movie. You could watch rom-coms or revisit your childhood with the classics.

2. A photoshoot

The best way to capture your love is through photos. When you’re in the moment, we don’t think to pull out a camera. Though the best memories live in our minds, take Valentine’s Day to get dolled up and capture your best moments on camera. Support your local black photographers and make magic.

3. Sip and paint

Find an image you want to recreate and go from there! You’ll need some acrylic paints, a few canvases and most importantly: the wine. If you’re feeling really artistic, you could even paint each other. Play some soft music in the background, light up the room with some romantic lighting and paint away.

4. Cook a meal together

Sounds lame, but finding a recipe and working together to complete it is really a great experience. It’s a nice way to bond while also seeing how well you all are able to work together.

5. An at-home spa day

Gather some essential oils, your softest linens, and all the candles your heart desires. Massages are not only soothing, but they allow you to connect to your partner in a different way. This is a sensual and intimate way to really get comfortable with your partner.

6. Make a movie

No, I’m not talking about that kind of movie (unless... *wink wink*). I’m speaking of a home movie. Spend the day recording and capturing small moments of each other as you play games, adventure out, and just spend time together. At the end of the day, you could combine the footage and watch it over on another special day.

7. Book a hotel

Simply want a change in scenery? Book a luxury room at a nice hotel nearby and utilize any of the date ideas above!
